At Spampinato Guitars, we listen to a lot of music every day, and a fixture on our most popular playlists in NRBQ, the New Rhythm & Blues Quartet.
Although we have no direct familial connection with former NRBQ bassist/singer/songwriter and co-founder of the long running NRBQ, we do know that our roots both stretch back to a small village in Sicily.
Joey Spampinato played a crucial role in some of music’s most joyful and creative moments.
His tenure stretched from the 1969 debut through 2004, when the original group dissolved (they later reformed without him). He was a key ingredient in the outfit’s mojo that mixed jazz, rockabilly, pop, country and rock with the catchy melodies that made NRBQ such a cult phenomenon.
